Wendy Kier Q and A Interview
Can you share your back story with us, a bit about your childhood?
I faced many childhood traumas as I was taken into local authority care. Left school early and at 16 went out into the big wide world. I will leave the rest to your imagination.
Were you a determined child or has that developed?
I learnt very early on how to become resilient plus when combined with the gift of dyslexia. I’m able to find my way around obstacles that others wouldn’t be able to overcome.
Can you share something about yourself that is not widely known?
I’ve spent 5 years of my life traveling around the world which included living in Israel, Amsterdam, Australia and Thailand.
How and when did you know you wanted to become an entrepreneur?
The entrepreneurial journey was not a natural step for me. I decided to set up a business by myself because I was sick to death of being discriminated against because of my Dyslexia.
Tell us about your business
I help female experts, authors, trainers and speakers to connect with a large engaged online audience of buyers. Which allows them to work with more people, stop trading time for money and increases their profits.
Online speaking is new territory for many aspiring and professional speakers. I setup Virtual Speaking Professionals to give women access to the most up-to-date guidance, training, knowledge and mentoring they need to succeed online.
What did you give up to get to where you are today? What did you have to sacrifice?
Reliance can be a double edge sword while it’s great to be able to pick yourself up from things and to have the strength to carry on. You sometimes keep going when you are better to walk away or change direction. So, at times I’ve sacrificed my own mental health.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to do?
Speak at LIVE in the room events.
What are your goals for 2017 and beyond?
I’m not really goal oriented, I have a tendency to work on projects rather than a specific goal.
My main focus is…. to build the membership of Virtual Speaking Professionals in the UK market space to work with women who want to host virtual summits and online conferences.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Do you have any big Goals?
Can you share 3 #BizTips for Women in Business
1) Don’t listen to people that haven’t done not what you are doing, get advice from people who have been there done that.
2) Learn to celebrate your failures and acknowledge your successes.
3) Don’t be frightened to change direction… the business you started with isn’t going to be what you end with.
