Tiny Time Big Results

Can you share a bit about your back story with us.

I’m a British woman, born to Indian Muslim parents, married to an Irish farmer and living in Ireland for the last 18 years! I worked in corporate for 12 years (I was Vice President of Leadership Development) and when I was made redundant in 2011, I decided to take matters into my own hands and start my own business.

My eldest was 15 months old at the time, we wanted more children and I didn’t want to be a commuter mum. Starting my own business meant my husband and I could create the freedom and flexibility we craved in our life.

We now have 3 young children and I run a business from home called Tiny Time Big Results where I help small business owners run a profitable business in 20 hours a week or less.

How and when did you know that you wanted to write a book?

Writing a book was a goal of mine early on in my self-employment journey as I could see it was a fantastic way to share my message but I didn’t know what it would be about! After working in my business for a few years, I decided I wanted to write a book that would help people run a ‘tiny time’ business and avoid the mistakes I made when I first started in the business.

I had worked in big business for over a decade but I was green and naïve when I started! I knew nothing! But I know that if someone reads and implements what I have written, they would have the guidance that could save themselves thousands of pounds and hours – with this book, they can learn from my mistakes and profit from the insights!

But it took time because I was still learning (and continue to do so!)

Tell us about your book.

Tiny Time Big Results Book Yasmin Vorajee

My book, Tiny Time Big Results explains how to run a profitable business in 20 hours a week or less. When I first started out in business, I was helping business owners be more organized and strategic with their time management and goal setting. But as I grew my business, I began to struggle juggling running the business and raising my young family. I had very limited time in the day, I was feeling overwhelmed and I wondered if it was possible to make a business work without working long hours.

The book is the culmination of what I have discovered. First of all, yes it is possible but you have to make certain things non-negotiable like prioritizing profit, leveraging your time and structuring your business model to make tiny time the opportunity, not the challenge.

What were the hardest things you faced whilst you were writing it?

Time! I only work 3-4 hours a day so trying to get the book written as well work with clients AND continue marketing wasn’t easy BUT I created structures and disciplines that meant I actually wrote the bulk of the book, 35,000 words, in one month (the book is around 42,000 words). I also faced crippling self-doubt (‘who am I to write a book?’) and silencing that loud voice took effort too!

What were the best things you experienced during the process?

Writing this book created incredible clarity around my process and my signature system. Writing down my process and getting people to read it for me (I had 5 test readers) meant I could test out the material and make sure it made sense! The test readers were invaluable in this regard! My editor was also phenomenal; she helped to shape my thinking around particular sections of the book and without her questioning style, I would not have gained the clarity I did.

What’s next for you?

My focus is to get the book in as many hands as possible! The book is transformative; it can help you see where you’re struggling in your business strategy and it will show you how to structure your business and time so you are purpose-full, profitable, productive and making time for play and fun!

Information is one thing, implementing is another. The book is the first step and when people are ready to take the next step, the Tiny Time Business School is ready for them. The lifeblood of any business is a continuous flow of clients and revenue and the Tiny Time Business School program is all about how to consistently attract clients in 20 hours a week. The book shows you what to do and the program shows you how to do it without getting overwhelmed with technology, self-doubt or confusion.

Can you share your top 3 #booktips.

1) Be clear and intentional about writing your book and what you want it to do for you

2) Set out a clear schedule and plan your writing time – what gets scheduled gets done!

3) Don’t let your inner critic win when it comes to sharing your message. Your message is needed. Focus on the people you’re here to serve. Make it about them, not you.
