Stroke To Success

by Suzy Wigstadt

Can you share a bit about your back story with us.

In 2010 my life was changed I suffered a stroke that left me with the mindset of a newborn baby.  My family surrounded me and worked with me to heal, I used the skills I developed in sales since I was 18 to heal, I rebuilt everything in my life and now I get to draw out confidence, strength and determination, to be who you were created to be and live life to the fullest.  We’re not guaranteed…  not just tomorrow, but our next breath.  It is an honor to encourage the people I get to come in contact with, to not take life for granted, because I was close to not having mine.

How and when did you know that you wanted to write a book?

When I told my story over and over again, to people I had known my whole life, or strangers, the majority would say “You HAVE to write a book…”  At first I didn’t really believe them, but I started feeling it in my gut, that I needed to … it took me 6 years to start the process of writing my book, I struggled through it for 6 months and then wrote it in 3 days.   I realized that my insecurities shouldn’t hold me back from the inspiration people felt through hearing or reading my story.

Tell us about your book.

Stroke To Success by Suzy Wagstadt Authors Spotlight

My book Stroke To Success is set up as if we are sitting together having coffee, by a fireplace and we are getting to know each other.  There are also parts of my book where there are action steps to take.  I didn’t listen to my body and my gut for 3 months.  They were telling me to slow down and I didn’t listen, so my body STOPPED for me.

What were the hardest things you faced whilst you were writing it?

Self Doubt.  Definitely.
HOW to write the book.
I like to know how things go and to have free structure – FREE – so I can let things flow and STRUCTURE – to know that there’s a system that will work … When it comes to myself I tend to complicate things – until they HAVE to be done.  I would sit down at the computer and draw a blank for hours, or I would type two chapters and then erase it all.

What were the best things you experienced during the process?

OH MAN!!
Reliving the events from a healed place.  I wouldn’t have been ready to write my book years before, I hadn’t healed enough.  I can replay all of the events in my head over and over like a movie.  It was like I was outside of my body watching.  As I healed and heard stories from my family and friends, I got to share my reality … which was part of what they said and then a dream like state that tied it all together.

What’s next for you?

Speaking to encourage and enlighten people on listening to your body and your gut, because they know the way before our brain understands!

Also bringing out of the box success training, that just makes sense for every day life. Through our Success Strategy packages, one:one time and group strategy sessions.

So much of life is bigger than what we see, I like to pull back the curtain and get to the heart, and mindset to move forward.

Can you share your top 3 #booktips.

1) Your book is YOUR OWN.  People have amazing tips and tricks, you are like no other and your book will be like no other, trust that!

2) Believe in yourself.  Start writing.  I like pen and paper more than a computer, but go back to #1 – your book is your own.  So create it in the way that satisfies you the most.

3) Connect with amazing people who are further down the road, find a great editor and publisher!  If something doesn’t feel right to you, don’t settle.  The first few book covers that were sent to me WERE NOT ME … so I told them and eventually pretty much designed my own cover.  It is something that I am FULLY proud of, because WHO I AM is stamped all over it.
