Lenka Lutonska Q and A Interview
Can you share your back story with us, a bit about your childhood?
I originally come from Slovakia. My sister died of Meningitis when I was 2 year old and this influenced my parents dramatically. My father channeled all hope for his children into me. Meaning, his expectations of me were very high from the start. So I became a very determined child with not only the desire, but the need to excel. At the same time, this strict upbringing had a profound effect on my confidence. By the time I was a teenager, I became bulimic with suicidal thoughts. While these were certainly dark times, at the same time it gave birth to my desire to ‘change the world’ and help many other people – because I wanted to help myself.
Were you a determined child or has that developed?
My determination to excel became a necessity for me.
Can you share something about yourself that is not widely known?
When I was a teenager, a local priest gave me an opportunity to mentor a group of troubled kids. I’d meet with them weekly and facilitated group sessions where I would encourage self-betterment through metaphors, stories, self-expression and art. It was my first experience as a coach! And it gave me a taste of how incredibly rewarding working with people – and coaching- can be.
How and when did you know you wanted to become an entrepreneur?
I never wanted to become an entrepreneur. I only wanted to “change the world.” At school during English lessons, we learned about London and how it’s a cosmopolitan city where dreams come true. Well, that was enough for me! After college I came to London with £30 in my pocket. I found a job in Mc Donald’s as a cleaner and worked for them for six years, becoming an award-winning business manager managing hundreds of people and millions of turnover. And in the meantime, I learned what I could about the human mind. I studied psychotherapy, counselling and hypnotherapy, and eventually, Neuro Linguistic Programming. NLP truly grabbed my heart and I knew from the get-go this would be my way to fulfil my dream. I trained to the highest level, as a Master NLP Coach and accredited Trainer, and in 2007 I left my job and started to deliver accreditation NLP courses all over the UK. That was the beginning of my entrepreneurship journey.
Tell us about your business…
I help women to become world-class coaches – I run accredited NLP Coach courses. I also help them to scale their passion for making a difference in the world into multiple six and seven-figure businesses that feed their souls and bank accounts in equal measure.
What did you give up to get to where you are today? What did you have to sacrifice?
Well, to get trained as accredited NLP trainer and start my business I left a very secure job and sold my house and my car to fund the training and business start up. Then six years into my business, I had a business partnership that turned sour, and I lost the entire business. I had to pick myself back up and start again. Luckily, for every sacrifice, there proved to be an even bigger reward. Today I run a hugely successful business that gives me and my family everything we dreamed about – personal fulfilment, a business I love, financial and time freedom. I am truly blessed.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to do?
To rebuild my business after I abruptly lost it. It wasn’t just another journey through the business infancy period. It was a spiritual journey. Those two years of hardship felt like a million years, but looking backwards, it was preparing me to do my best work. I believe this is always the case.
What are your goals for 2018 and beyond?
In January 2018 I ran the first Extraordinary Live event – a spectacular 3-day event for women entrepreneurs who desire to scale their passion for making a difference to multiple six and seven-figure businesses. It was a huge success and what we created in that room is rather unbelievable. So we are already working on creating another spectacular 3-day live event for 2019. I am also in a process of writing the Energetic Selling Method™ book, detailing my method for helping women to create quantum leaps in their businesses and lives.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Do you have any big Goals?
My biggest goal is to create 25 women millionaire coaches in the next few years. We women are powerful and when we allow ourselves to serve, and live at our highest level, we can create an extraordinary difference in the world, and our lives with it. Apart from that, I shall continue growing my business and changing the world – one woman, one group, one reader, one audience at the time.
Can you share 3 #BizTips for Women in Business
1) Carry yourself tall. Assuming the ‘winners’ physiology will encourage your brain to produce more serotonin, a well-being hormone that will in turn make you feel more empowered, focused and creative. You will also sell more as people respond to confident energy really well. It’s super attractive.
2)Do things before you feel ready. Hire that coach or that new team member you need to grow – invest in your next growth strategy. Fortune favours the bold, and acting before you feel ready will take you 1000 times quicker where you want to be in your business rather than waiting for better circumstances.
3)Learn to be a little bit more selfish. When making decisions, consider what is best for you first. We women often shy away from this and being labeled selfish is the last thing we’d want, however putting ourselves first ultimately benefits everyone around you, often in the most profound ways – and your business will thank you for it too. There is a reason why air hostesses teach us to put an oxygen mask on first before attending anyone else!
