Karen Baines Q and A Interview
Can you share your back story with us, a bit about your childhood?
Wow, my childhood, eldest of 3, younger brother and sister. When I think back to my childhood it kind of sucked. My mum raised us on her own. My dad left when I was four. She was depressed & worked really hard. A very angry and unhappy lady. As I grew up, at around 12/13 years old an amazing teacher at school took me under her wing, I was informed I was took on a parenting role for my parent, I was really unhappy, had problems at school, bullying, friendship issues. Always felt alone and different even when I was with a group people. I was so glad to get out of childhood. This was where I started my self-development and counselling journey.
Were you a determined child or has that developed?
When think back, I was a determined child, I was determined to understand myself and other people. Because I just wanted to be happy, I really did think there was something wrong with me as a child for not being happy. Deep sense of sadness and I always pinned that on my dad not being around. But whether it had anything to do with abandonment, from a very young age I was determination I was going to be happy, I had an innate knowledge that that wasn’t the way the way to be that one day I would find the answer.
Can you share something about yourself that is not widely known?
I am a really private person. I have 5 children. I have been married for 25 years. But what people don’t know about me is that before I met my husband – I was in multiple abusive relationships. First one physically abusive marriage. My second relationship was mentally abusive. The mental abuse was way worse than physical abusive. After years of having a lot of junk to get through, figuring myself out to be fully ready to starting my own business.
Family history is financial struggle, father’s father was buried in a pauper’s grave, grandmother and grandfather were successful in the navy to republican, grandmother ended up in a council flat with a state pension. Financial baggage that goes back generations that meant that I known other than financial struggle.
13 years ago when my son was young, I studied really hard to become a bookkeeper. My bookkeeping business started when my husband started his own business – I needed to do his tax return and I didn’t have a clue about what needed to be collected. I was introduced to Excel spreadsheet from an accountant, the spreadsheet was a jigsaw puzzle. I loved it!
Even though I left school with no qualifications and I hated maths. There was something about bookkeeping that lit me up! I nailed the exams. More than 95% in one exam. More than 90% in another. Alison (the accountant who introduced me to spreadsheets) then hired me.
My bookkeeping business gave me the opportunity to see my power for the first power.
Not as a wife, mother or daughter. Me.
How and when did you know you wanted to become an entrepreneur?
I didn’t even realise that ‘entrepreneur’ was what I was doing when I started it 13 years ago. My self-development and first business – I gained so much knowledge around how to make your life better throughout my own search for your own happiness.
My self-development journey opened up a new channel of healing modalities including; Universal Law and Manifesting.
When I learnt about manifesting a lightbulb went on, it was like truth, it was like hearing and reading about something I knew existed or understanding.
I found the thing that I had been searching for my whole life. The knowledge that I had gained throughout the journey was trickling into my bookkeeping business.
I could then see why my clients why they were not making money.
I started to have conversations with strangers and family members and understand what was going on with them that they didn’t have access to.
Gradually… the bookkeeping, finance, healing, Universal Law, manifesting work became ONE.
All the struggle my family, sister and mum debt, generational struggle – I could see that finally I had gotten out of all of that.
No limiting beliefs.
You can break these patterns, you CAN break these habits.
I made it happen and I could see that I could help people do that.
I have done it, you can do it!
Tell us about your business…
I love my business. I am in the business of helping other entrepreneurs align and create new financial levels in there businesses. I do it from a way of Karmic Conscious Creating, our designed way to create, how to learn what they are already doing, reverse engineer it, to make new choices with what they already want.
I am explaining to people what they are already doing – they just need a light shone on it, demystify the manifesting process.
Shine the light on their businesses and their finances.
The one place your misaligned choices will show up is in your money.
It’s so much easier to shine a light there, locate misaligned choices and then we make a new alignment to a new income level they want to create a new income level.
So we can experience our divinity in a whole new way.
I mainly work 1-1 with clients – that’s how I work best.
I am exploring working in small groups, rapid transformation, working with a group of people is a great way to rapidly – taking me out of my comfort zone and that’s where the magic happens.
What did you give up to get to where you are today? What did you have to sacrifice?
Conscious Karmic Creators do not choose sacrifice. It just creates more sacrifice!
I had to give up listening to other people and having wishy washy boundaries – that slowed my business growth down. I had to give up knowing others knew more than me, better than me, more technically minded. I had to give up taking notice of things that I knew wasn’t right for me!
Entrepreneurship is a journey of self-knowledge. Somethings aren’t for us, we just need to be firm enough in our boundaries to let that go.
There are parts of my business I didn’t sign up for – the facebook ads, the funnels, the website, the branding and all that stuff just isn’t my experience – its necessary, especially in the online world – it is important.
I can hand over, but not just as neglect.
Because ‘choosing neglect’ won’t lead to abundance.
When you have woolly wishy washy boundaries – you are basically dancing to everyone’s tune. A conscious karmic creator knows that when you do that, you choose a lesser experience for yourself, aligning yourself to devalue yourself, your gifts, less than experience, boundaries, which leads to lack.
Doing it everyone else’s way takes you out of alignment.
Our souls are here for our own experience.
You can’t teach someone else your divine gifts, your gifts are for you!
You need to find what works for your soul and your alignment – which is what I teach my clients to do.
There are experts out there, we can only take what is aligned for us – move forward with what works, let go of everything else.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to do?
Opening a Facebook Group and doing Live Streams was the hardest thing I have had to do. I put it off for a year. I opened the group, it was necessary, it helped me embody being an expert, it helped me to see how much how an expert I am, it helped me get comfortable with live streams. It was terrifying! Even more terrifying than closing my first bookkeeping business!!
Now – that part of the journey is complete, the Facebook Group served its purpose, I gained the self-confidence. I overcome ‘hiding’ to being comfortable with being visible and I am doing live streams. I love podcast interviews, I enjoy having a conversion with the host & being in flow.
What are your goals for 2018 and beyond?
I would love to say writing a book or speaking at the 02 Arena, but I am more the influencer behind influencer. I coach people who have big global visions such as being on a huge stage.
Long-term – I want to own my own cottage in Norfolk.
Between now and then, I will keep stretching my comfort zone, keep working with amazing people, keep reaching new levels of consciousness and alignment. Keep enjoying that journey.
Reminding myself to stay so grateful. I am doing my gift. There’s only 3% of the population that gets to do that, and I am one of them!
I have income goals but ultimately it is enjoying a journey of self-knowledge, meeting and coaching and helping amazing people to do their gifts too.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Do you have any big Goals?
I will be living in my cottage in Norfolk and coaching amazing women around the world.
Can you share 3 #BizTips for Women in Business
1) If you are ignoring your money stop it – if looking at your bank account is uncomfortable, get comfortable with it and do it! That’s the most important thing you can do to bring in more income – you ignore what you don’t want in your life.
2) Get support and ask for help when you need it – in business and life as well. If you’re in service to other people – you are essentially giving value to the world. Ask for support, get a network of like-minded people around you. We were not born to live on desert islands we need other people!
3) If you are spending all of your time in overwhelm doing your to do list. Let it go! Yes it will create more money. You have to let go of your to do list that is clogging it. Streamline it, dedicate it, do more of what you love! You in alignment. That is where you will create higher income levels!
