Adele Brimâge Q and A Interview
Can you share your back story with us, a bit about your childhood?
My memories of my childhood are that there were many challenging time, I was a happy child and loved to spend time with my grandma.
Were you a determined child or has that developed?
I think I was always very inquisitive as a child, and also quite determined. I am not sure if tenacity is the right word but I would never let anything get the better of me.
Can you share something about yourself that is not widely known?
I care passionately about what I do for many different reasons but one of the biggest reasons is that I know from experience that any woman can change and create for themselves a life that they love to live, with the right beliefs, thoughts and action and by understanding the power they hold within and how to co create with the Law of Attraction. 17 years ago my life was very different from the life that I have today. I was confused, lacked confidence, was afraid and at times wondered if I would see another day as for 22 years previously I had existed within an abusive marriage. It took a long time to give myself the gift of self-love and permission to grow and create the life I now have.
How and when did you know you wanted to become an entrepreneur?
The moment I discovered that I had a choice as to what I did or didn’t want in my life, I didn’t want to work for someone else, too much of my life had already been given over to other people making the decisions, I wanted to be the author of the book called my life and I want to do life on my terms and being an entrepreneur gives me the ability and freedom to do that.
Tell us about your business
I am a Transformational Life Coach, Writer & Inspirational Speaker. I help women to live their life on their terms, remove any barriers or blocks that are holding them back, help them to learn how to love and forgive themselves, and develop a mind-set that sets them up for sustainable success over and over again aiding them to create a life or business that lights them up inside.
What did you give up to get to where you are today? What did you have to sacrifice?
I think all my sacrifice came long before I started my own business. Has there been challenges along the way YES most definitely, have I felt like giving it up NO because I believe that if you ask the right questions the answers will appear, you just have to be quite enough to hear them which in its self can be quite challenging in such a fast pace world.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to do?
I guess the hardest thing I ever had to do was see me as ENOUGH, to learn to love myself, get rid of all the baggage that was keeping me feeling stuck, constantly self-sabotaging myself and procrastinating and playing too small. To give myself permission to believe I was smart enough to have an amazing business and life.
What are your goals for 2017 and beyond?
My goal for 2017 was to give myself permission to take time to look after me and I have been doing this which all accumulated in a full knee replacement that I had some months ago, I had spent too many years struggling and sleepless nights. I think as women we very rarely put ourselves at the top of our priorities but everyone benefits when we do. My life is already, after a couple of month, feeling and looking better so I think for the remainder of 2017 I am going to keep pursuing the goals that light me up, working with clients and writing and of course speaking at different events in the UK and internationally. For 2018 I guess my main goal is to be happy, enjoy each moment of my life have more fun and continue to expand the good work I have already started.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Do you have any big Goals?
Can you share 3 #BizTips for Women in Business
1) Get clear on what you want to achieve and why you want it. I think this makes a massive difference as if you know why you are doing something it can be the thing that will motivate you and could potentially keep you going through challenging times. Like all journeys you ever take in life you have to start with the END in mind
2) Once you know what you want then break that down into bite size chunks, you see sometimes we can take on too much and before we have even started can feel overwhelmed and feel like giving up, there just doesn’t seem like enough hours in the day to do all the things you want to do and that’s before you have dealt with any procrastination or self-sabotaging you might be doing so give yourself permission each and every day to go EASY on YOURSELF. Many people put far too many things on their to do list I know I used to and the list never seemed to get smaller it just got longer, so each day ask yourself “what can I do that will move me nearer to my goal for today” and then take the time to be quite and listen for the answer.
3) In everyone’s life there are things that go wrong, things that we wish we could redo feelings of failure etc. so I think the third thing I would say is at them times fail forward. Take the gift you have received from what you could do different that will provide you with the result you want and set the reset button and KNOW you can reset that button as many times as you have too. You see I don’t believe that any of us every fail I think that’s just something we keep telling ourselves to beat ourselves up so DROP IT, it doesn’t serve you, help you or encourage you in any way. Know you can do this; you just have to take a breath and rethink things. As my grandma use to say “where there is a will there is a way”.
